The first episode of the film anthology "Witnesses".
The story takes place in the 1930s-1940s and tells the tale of a pair of women's shoes. It begins in a store display window and tragically ends in the mass grave of shoes at the Auschwitz concentration camp. The characters' faces are not shown, and there are no dialogues.

The film was shot in Russia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Poland, and France. Over 600 specialists from different countries were involved in the production of the film.
PREMIERE AND RECOGNITION
The film "Shoes" was a contender for the Academy Award in the category of "Best Live Action Short Film" for 2013. It was also presented in the short film competition program at the 24th Open Russian Film Festival "Kinotavr." "Shoes" won numerous Russian and international film festivals, including the International Film Festival in Monaco, the 10th International Charity Film Festival "Radiant Angel," the Artkino Film Festival, the "Empire" Film Festival (Italy), and others.
